HOW TO TELL THE VERSION
Please check the current version of the system working on your RE-202 before downloading the file.
MEMORY 1 or MEMORY 2 lighted: This is an old version. Please update to the latest version.
MEMORY 3 lighted: This is the latest version. Applying this update is not necessary.
- Hold down the [MEMORY] button and connect the included AC adapter to turn on the power.
- Check which MEMORY indicator is lighted.
- After verifying the version, disconnect the AC adapter to turn off the power.

Additional Functions
- It is now possible to set a reverb type for each individual memory.
- A setting has been added to sustain the SATURATION effect in DIRECT MODE even when effects are off.
- It is now possible to add new tones to TWIST and to set the type.
- It is now possible to select the playback head and dotted eighth notes as the reference when inputting the tempo.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE YOUR RE-202
Updating the RE-202 system program requires the following items.
- RE-202
- Commercially available USB 2.0-compliant USB cable (USB micro B to USB A or USB Type-C)
Use a USB cable that is for data-transmission use. A charging-only micro USB cable cannot transmit data.
The update is performed via a USB connection between the RE-202 and a computer.
Provide a cable suitable for connection to the computer you're using.
- A computer (Windows-based or Mac) provided with a USB port that is compliant with USB 2.0 or USB 3.0
CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE
- Never apply this update data to any product other than the RE-202. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
- Never power-off your RE-202 while the update is in progress!
If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the RE-202 won't be able to start up in normal operating mode.
This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
- We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program.
DOWNLOADING AND UNARCHIVING THE COMPRESSED FILE
- Read the software license agreement at the bottom of the screen and select the "I agree" check box.
- Click the "Download" button to download the system program (re202_sys_v110.zip).
- Unarchive the downloaded file.
[Windows] Right-click the file and select "Extract All," then click "Extract."
[macOS] Double-click the file to unzip it.
PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Caution
- You must not rename the extracted file.
- Never turn off the RE-202's power while the update is in progress. Otherwise the system program or the RE-202 itself may be destroyed.
Please install the extracted system program file into your RE-202 according to the following procedure.
- Hold down the [MEMORY (REVERB)] switch and connect the included AC adapter to turn on the power.
Continue holding down the [MEMORY (REVERB)] switch until the MANUAL indicator starts to flash.
- Connect the RE-202 and the computer using the USB cable.
- Open the "RE-202" icon on the computer.
"Removable Disk (*:)" might be displayed instead of the "RE-202" icon.
- Copy (drag) all files inside the "re202_sys_v110" folder to the "RE-202" icon.
Do not copy the entire "re202_sys_v110" folder itself.
- When copying has finished, unmount or remove the RE-202 on the computer.
[Windows] Remove the RE-202 according to the settings and the version of Windows you're using.
[macOS] Drag the "RE-202" icon to the Trash icon.
- Disconnect the USB cable.
The MANUAL indicator flashes rapidly and the update starts.
When the update finishes, the MANUAL indicator stops flashing and stays steadily lighted.
- Disconnect the AC adapter to turn off the power.
