This past weekend was the last weekend of spring break. I did not want to think about going to work or to classes. I didn’t do much in the way of traditional spring breaking, and even though I went to a yoga class and worked on my research paper, my greatest accomplishment over the week, was to just relax and enjoy doing nothing.
The weather in my part of Texas, USA is not very spring like right now, but because I enjoy the cooler weather, it was perfect, in my opinion. To start my day at the beginning of the week, I sat out on my front porch wrapped in my favorite blanket with a cup of hot coffee. I included the word hot in that last sentence because on most days I pour my coffee and take it into my office and start working and by the time I get to drink it, its cold.
One thing I like to do is read. During spring break I was able to catch up on two popular books that I started reading a while back. I was able to spend the entire Tuesday just reading, snaking and relaxing in my pajamas.
My son came in from college, on Wednesday, and we went shopping, out to his favorite restaurant and to a baseball game. Those are mostly my son’s favorite things to do, but because I got to spend the day with him and his brother, it made me happy, and doing what makes you feel happy is the first rule in self care, RIGHT??
I was able to nap at anytime of the day I wanted, I was also able to nap ANYWHERE I wanted. My husband like person does not like anyone napping in the living room. His rule is; if you are sleepy, go to bed….hahaha!! But since I was home alone, I napped on the couch, in the recliner but mostly on the floor in my big fluffy blanket.
On Saturday, I was a little hesitant to do so, but my HLP and I watched the entire Rocky series. Yes, Rocky I through IV as well as Creed I and II. Over 12 hours of Sylvester Stallone. Even though I slept through Rocky III, I did enjoy most of the movies. If I had to pick a favorite it would have to be the original Rocky.
I can sum this spring break up in just a few works….It was awesome! One whole week, nine days actually, of doing nothing but what I liked and enjoyed, with people I care about. It was the best week I’ve had in a very long time and I feel that not only did I need a few days like that, but that I deserved them.

I haven’t taken a spring break but I plan to. Those days spent lounging around or doing whatever our hearts desire are the best
