Conversation starter….

Talk to me Tuesday…..

Where do you struggle when it comes to self care?

This could be a great journal prompt if you are a person who journals.  Write down where you stall at putting yourself first.

Do you feel guilty, like I did, about doing things that make you happy.  I always worried about buying myself something if I didn’t buy something for my husband or my kids.

Do you feel bad about taking time to go for a walk or taking a nap when there are dishes to be washed or laundry to be folded?

Do you feel judged if you eat the ice cream instead of the salad.

I struggled with all of those thing, (except the ice cream, I don’t like ice cream).  But all the  guilt, stress and judgmental feelings were there….until I learned better.

You can not take care of others if you are not taking care of yourself.

  1. I’ve grown much better at taking care of myself. I nap when I need to, drink my favorite teas, spend time outside observing nature, chat with my friends, and more than anything, I write. I’ve lost count of the journals I’ve had in my life. Thanks for reminding us of ways to care for ourselves Bosslady!

  2. I used to feel so guilty when I would buy something for myself. Now, I feel guilty if I take a day off or a break. I have so much to do and I want to get it all done, but I have to learn to listen to myself and my body and take a break sometimes. It’s necessary and it’s important.

  3. “Love yourself first” reminds me of that financial saying, “pay yourself first.” It’s a great adage for women to remember, especially since we are socialized to take care of others first and think of ourselves last. Since making gratitude journaling and self-celebration are part of my regular routine. I feel that my life flows a lot easier! So I definitely agree with your advice!
