Success is the product of daily habits…not once in a lifetime transfermations. –James Clear.

Make loving yourself a habit!!

The journey to self-acceptance and self-love must begin with self-examination, because until you recognize and accept all of you—the good and the not so good—you will seek external validation. It is an act of faith to know yourself, accept yourself, and love yourself, in spite of your warts and flaws.

WHEW….. Ive been busy.  Thank you for hanging in there with me.

Lets catch up.

I just finished my sign language class last Tuesday, and although I need two more classes to become a certified interpreter, I had so much fun learning in that class and feel comfortable that I can communicate with  anyone who uses sign.

Next, I’m back at my yoga class which I LOVE…we have also acquired a new place for the class so I got to take part in the cleaning, restoring and decorating of that.

I attended a play, while I was on hiatus, titled the Drowsy Chaperone.  It was performed at our local high school by some of our very talented high school students.

My big announcement…I will  be going to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA in January to attend a Happy Black Woman Manifest Your Vision tour.  Three days and nights of learning, networking, fellowship and most importantly, learning more about the goodness of self care and self love. I will take lots of pictures and will share them with you with each new blog post, so stay on the look out.

O and my big BIG announcement!!!!  I enrolled to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)  I’m so excited.  Doing what I have always wanted to do.  I will begin  seeing clients, independent of my current employment, starting January 2019 and just the excitement of that, keeps me awake at night.

My crafts will  continue but on a “per order” basis.  But I will always make stuff for friends and family.

If you are doing something new and exciting share it with us, lets encourage each other.

Mission Statement

To enrich the lives of families with loved ones with ASD by encouraging, modeling and resources.

That’s the mission statement for my business that helps children with autism.  What is your mission statement to love yourself.  Loving and caring for yourself is the biggest mission of your life.Screenshot_20180520-190232

BCBA goals….

#LoveU is a mission to encourage everyone to love themselves and take care of themselves.  I am a strong believer that the better you feel the better you behave; and the better you are at giving others the real you.

I am pretty good, now, at taking good care of myself.  I will take a day and relax and do things I enjoy even if its something as small as listening to a song on the radio or eating my favorite candy.  I keep my health in check by keeping regular appointments with my doctor and dentist (mammogram scheduled for next Thursday).

As most of you already know, I’m a special educator, I have been since 1992, in some form or another, so its a clear shot to think that its something I’m passionate about doing.  Teaching students that learn differently, are on the AU spectrum or whose behaviors may make it difficult for them to learn in a general education classroom, is one of my favorite things to do.  Getting to go to work everyday and do what I enjoy and something that I know helps other people is not really work at all.  It is part of MY self love and self care

I said all of that to say: I’ve decided to take things one step farther in my professional life.  I have enrolled in college to advance my degree and apply to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  If you enjoy what you do it, you will work to do it well, including what you do as a career. Most adults spend many hours at a full time job, shouldn’t it be a place that is pleasurable? Think about what you can do to make your work life more enjoyable.  I’d love to here your thoughts.

Positively Happy

“Its hard to do good if you don’t feel good!”, this is a quote from a lecture by Les Brown.  And he is absolutely right.  Everybody wants to be successful and happy but have you ever tried to go to work with a headache, or a cold or you just plain didn’t feel good.  Where you able to give your 100% effort? Probably not…….TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

What about what you tell yourself.  I’ve said once before that; You are what you say you are;  in other words “so a man thinket, so is he”.  Be careful of what you tell yourself…tell yourself happy thoughts, positive thoughts. Make a commitment to love you and use kind words with yourself.  How many of us replay the last argument or negative conversation  in our heads.  We think of snappy comebacks that we wish we would have said. Basically, we get upset again about something that’s over.  Instead of reliving that bad situation over and over again;  Let it go!! Move on! Live in the happiness of your now.

Take care of your health! Be cautious of what you tell yourself.

What makes you smile.

I saw my close friend’s smile grow tremendously on yesterday as we ate lunch in a local sandwich shop.  That smile was brought about by her seeing her boyfriend walk into the restaurant.  One main goal in self care is to do things that you enjoy doing.  Surrounding yourself with people that make you happy is a beautiful, healthy thing.  My advice to everyone is this……

This pass weekend was very busy for me, some good, some not so good; but I was able to etch out some me time just the same.

Your list may not look like mine but should always include my last check  box of DO SOMETHING FUN!

What did you do for yourself today,  this past weekend,  this month?

Get busy taking care  and loving yourself.

Until next time…
